William P. Blase, MD, MSc, FACS

Dr. William P. Blase is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Founder and Medical Director of California Eye Professionals Medical Group, Inc., with three offices in Riverside County, California. For more than 35 years, Dr. Blase has been a dedicated physician and surgeon, specializing in diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the eye, cataract surgery and lens implantation procedures.

After completing an Internship in General Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Blase pursued an Ophthalmology residency. Dr. Blase graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College as an undergraduate and received his medical degree from the University of Virginia, School of Medicine. Dr. Blase also received an MSc (Masters of Science) from Oxford University in England during an elective year abroad during medical school. While at Oxford, Dr. Blase was the recipient of the Arnar-Stone Research Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology.

Dr. Blase completed an Internship and Ophthalmology Residency at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland in 1983. He completed a Fellowship in Anterior Segment Cataract Surgery with the Sinskey Eye Institute in Santa Monica, California. Dr. Blase founded California Eye Professionals Medical Group Inc. in Hemet in 1985. Since that time, the Practice has grown to three locations serving Riverside County.

In 2014, Dr. Blase was elected as Director on the Board of Valley Health Systems. He had previously served as Board Chairman from 1996- 2001. Dr. Blase is also serves on the Hemet Community Medical Group’s Quality Improvement Committee.

In addition to being a Diplomate on the American Board of Ophthalmology and American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, Dr. Blase is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons and American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery.
