Dr. Richard Burns is a board-certified ophthalmologist and is the leader of California Eye Professionals’ refractive surgery team. With more than 25 years’ experience in refractive surgery, he has been a pioneer in procedures to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Dr. Burns has been with California Eye Professionals since 2002.
Dr. Burns has participated in numerous clinical studies and has performed thousands of refractive surgery procedures including LASIK. He was one of the first ophthalmic surgeons in the United States to use LENSX laser assisted cataract surgery.
Dr. Burns has been chairman of several hospital ophthalmology departments as well as chairman of both the department of surgery and ophthalmology at the largest multi-specialty group in San Diego.
Dr. Burns is trusted by fellow surgeons to operate on them and their family members. He has appeared on numerous nationwide and regional television and radio broadcasts sharing his knowledge and insight on Laser assisted vision correction. Dr. Burns has published articles in several medical journals on refractive and cataract surgery.
Dr. Burns received his medical doctorate at the Mayo Clinic. He completed his residency at the University of California San Diego where he served as chief resident. He is a Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Academy of Sports Vision and Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
California Eye Professionals has three central office locations in Temecula, Menifee, and Hemet, California. Each office offers general eye examinations and eye consults. Our optical boutiques featuring designer frames and contacts are available for patients to browse at each location.
